2010 Chevrolet Traverse Comes to a Family's Rescue

"Brian and Rebecca Streck of Flower Mound, TX sent us this great story about a 2010 Traverse saving their family vacation. Read how this family of seven salvaged an unfortunate situation in Brain and Rebecca’s own words.

The Streck family - mom, dad, and five kids - traveled over 12 hours comfortably in their 2010 Chevrolet Traverse.

Our 3 month old Chevy Traverse saved our Florida vacation. I, my husband and 5 children ages 13 to 21 were headed to beautiful Destin Florida from Flower Mound Texas on Wednesday 8/4/10 with 4 of us in our Traverse and 3 in our 2006 Ford Escape which is generally the way we travel due to the number of passengers. Two hours outside of the DFW metroplex the transmission in the 2006 Ford Escape went out.

After having it towed into the nearest town and the mechanic letting us know the transmission had to be rebuilt the kids were worried that our summer vacation was not going to happen. I know the Traverse can seat up to 8 people but that doesn’t include luggage, back packs, individual pillows and all the other “necessities” that kids say the need. We piled all the kids into the two back seats, loaded all the luggage for 7 people that we could fit in the rear storage section and strapped the remaining ones to the top of the luggage rack and proceeded toward Florida determined to have a great vacation anyway. We broke the drive up on the way to Florida by spending the night in Baton Rouge since we lost 3 hours of drive time due to the mechanical breakdown but was able to drive straight through on the way back which is a 12 ½ hour drive.

We all wanted Chevrolet to know that the Traverse performed very well for us and allowed us to have a great family vacation in spite of our unfortunate mishaps at the beginning of the trip. I have attached a photo so you could put a visual of the size of our family vs. the room in the Traverse. If you ever need a family to sing the praises of the Chevy Traverse we would all be happy to do so since we have firsthand knowledge of the dependability and the interior room it has. We are very glad we made the decision to purchase this vehicle 3 months ago; it certainly saved the day for us.

2011 Chevrolet Cruze Features

Chevrolet is proud to feature a new compact car for 2011; the Chevrolet Cruze. The Cruze is an entirely new model replacing the Chevrolet Cobalt. The Cruze will be featured in four trim models: LT, 2LT, Eco, and LTZ with 1.4L turbocharged Ecotec engine and six-speed automatic transmission. The base Cruze LS will have an 1.8L Ecotec engine and 6-speed automatic transmission.

The 1.4L engine has 138 horsepower and 148 lb-ft of torque. Chevrolet's Cruze easily competes with-and will likely even beat-competitors like Honda and Toyota in the compact car industry. With

steering extremely crisp, and handling being very tight, many people that have test-driven the Cruze drives with the type of feeling you would expect from a larger and more expensive vehicle.

The Cruze also features the latest GM entertainment and navigation system, with a 40G hard-drive, XM radio, and USB/Aux/iPod ports. The ability to pause or rewind live radio, heated seats, remote start, and OnStar are all options that can be included in the Cruze as well.

The Cruze will play as a roll out vehicle for OnStar's new application for iPhone, Android, and

Blackberry phones. OnStar Subscribers will be able to access live information about their vehicle, including: fuel levels, odomoter, recent fuel economy, tire pressure, and lock status, on their mobile smart phone. It will allow the car owner to lock, unlock, and remotely start their vehicle using the

phone application. This new service will debut on the Volt and Cruze this fall and is completely

unique to General Motors.

2011 Corvette Owners Have Opportunity to Build Their Own Engine

"Corvette owners could soon be revving up an engine they built with their own hands.

General Motors Co. said Monday that buyers who order a 2011 Corvette Z06 or ZR1 can help assemble their cars' high-performance LS7 and LS9 engines. The automaker says the program is the first of its kind in the industry.

The engines will be built at GM's Performance Build Center in Wixom, Mich., where GM assembles all of its high-performance engines by hand. The facility can assemble up to 15,000 engines a year, GM spokesman Tom Read said.

Read said it will take buyers about six hours to assemble, adjust and clean their engines with the parts provided. A skilled technician will supervise.

The 2011 Corvettes are just going into production and will go on sale soon. Read said the company expects to have customers building their own engines as soon as next month. GM sold 13,934 Corvettes last year, according to AutoData Corp."
